Profile
I have enjoyed painting for as long as I can remember. Way back in 1975 I was accepted at York College of Art to do a degree in fine arts, due to a change in career path, I did not take up the offer.

Early retirement from a 34 year career in electronics hardware design in Kenya gave rise for the opportunity to paint. Plenty of advice and encouragement was and still is forthcoming from my younger son Glen, architect and professional artist, also his brother Marc, a computer games designer. Kids they are so damn clever.
Developments
Early 2019 I developed a distinctive style of oil painting on re-purposed slate dating from the late 1800s.
The technique produces images which are perceived differently in detail and definition depending on the position viewed in relation to the light source. I call this technique; Oil on Slate Light Interactive Image Art (OoSLIIA).

In April 2019 I embarked upon a series of paintings in this media entitled; York 2019 which features places of interest in and around York, a celebration of York's ancient and more recent landmarks. The series is a work in progress, seven pieces approach completion, more are planned. Each work includes its own handmade wooden slate frame.
